Every leader is shaped long before they ever hold public office. My earliest lessons came from watching my parents face life’s challenges with faith, perseverance, dignity, and an unwavering commitment to family.
After losing my father at a young age, I watched my mother rebuild our family’s future through hard work, faith, and an unwavering belief in education. Those experiences taught me that communities are strongest when people care for one another and invest in future generations.
Learning Through Hard Work
Long before serving in public office, I worked as an apprentice and later as a journeyman Inside Machinist at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. The work demanded precision, accountability, teamwork, and discipline—qualities that continue to shape how I approach leadership today.
